About the Role
Twyford International Uganda is looking for a seasoned and forward-thinking Human Resources Manager to take charge of the full HR function for its expanding manufacturing business in Kapeeka. This position focuses on building and executing people strategies, ensuring legal and policy compliance, strengthening talent processes, and promoting employee engagement and organizational growth.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to leadership, making sure HR delivers efficient, compliant, and business-focused support across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Create and roll out HR plans, policies, and initiatives that support company goals.
- Work with management on workforce planning and talent strategies that help the business meet its targets.
- Identify and lead ongoing improvements in HR practices and service delivery.
HR Operations Management
- Direct all core HR areas, including hiring, employee relations, pay and benefits, performance management, learning and development, attendance tracking, and HR administration.
- Review and authorize HR-related spending and department budgets.
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure reports are prepared on time.
Policy, Compliance, and Governance
- Draft, update, and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidance.
- Ensure the company remains compliant with Uganda labor legislation, occupational health and safety rules, and other legal obligations.
- Keep HR policies current as laws and business needs change.
Team Leadership
- Guide, coach, and develop the HR team so it can meet departmental goals.
- Set clear expectations and monitor individual and team performance.
- Promote a workplace culture built on accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Employee and Industrial Relations
- Handle employee relations, disciplinary matters, grievances, and conflict resolution processes.
- Build effective working relationships with labor authorities, legal advisers, unions, and other external stakeholders.
- Advise managers and supervisors on employee-related concerns.
Organizational Development
- Design HR systems, processes, and performance measures that improve efficiency and help control costs.
- Lead initiatives that improve employee engagement, retention, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Support change management and business transformation efforts.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with department heads to resolve workforce issues and support operational priorities.
- Provide strategic HR guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Represent the organization in HR-related interactions with external institutions and regulators.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related discipline.
- Professional HR certification such as CIPD, SHRM, HRCI, CHRP, or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- At least 5 years of steadily progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Minimum 2 years of experience at managerial or leadership level in a medium to large organization.
- Prior exposure to the manufacturing sector is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Uganda labor laws and modern HR practices.

- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

This role is based at Kapeeka Industrial Park, Nakaseke District, Uganda, in the Central Region.
