About the Role

Clementine Paper develops playful, stylish, and eco-conscious paper goods for major retail customers including Target and TJ Maxx. The company is seeking an illustrator with strong surface design experience and a background in consumer products to create artwork for notebooks, stationery, gift wrap, greeting cards, tableware, planners, and other paper-based office items.

What You’ll Do

• Develop original artwork and surface patterns for a wide range of seasonal and holiday themes.
• Adapt artwork for multiple consumer age groups, from baby products to adult-focused items.
• Apply illustrations and patterns across different paper product formats.
• Work with both self-created art and supplied artwork, including digital edits and refinements.
• Use Photoshop as the main tool for preparing and adjusting artwork.
• Create repeat patterns where needed for product lines.
• Carry out trend and market research to inform creative direction.
• Prepare print-ready production files for paper products using Illustrator and Photoshop on a Mac.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring a trend-aware design sensibility that still feels approachable and appealing to mass-market shoppers. Experience in consumer products and an understanding of how artwork translates onto finished goods are important. Strong graphic design, layout, and typography abilities are valuable additions to the role.

Requirements

• 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience, ideally in consumer products.
• Strong understanding of printing methods and production specifications.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite on Mac.
• Excellent color judgment and awareness of current trends.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to stay self-directed and manage several projects simultaneously.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to support team needs across projects.
• Portfolio link or sample work must be included with the application.

Additional Information

This role involves creating artwork for seasonal collections and adapting designs for different product categories. The team uses both digital and traditional illustration methods, so candidates may work in their preferred style as long as they can effectively edit and manipulate artwork in Photoshop. Strong layout skills and typography experience are helpful for success in the role.
