Industrial Designer

About the role

Meta is hiring an Industrial Designer for its US industrial design team in Redmond, Washington. In this role, you will help shape next-generation consumer products by blending practical usability, visual refinement, and technical problem-solving. The position calls for someone who can work across disciplines, contribute strong product concepts, and help guide a product or subsystem from early idea stage through manufacturing readiness.

What you'll do

• Create and evolve product concepts for breakthrough, category-leading experiences.
• Balance ergonomics, aesthetics, and engineering constraints to resolve complex design challenges.
• Work closely with cross-functional partners in a fast-moving and often ambiguous environment.
• Develop thoughtful solutions to mechanical and ergonomic issues with a high level of craft.
• Contribute ideas, concepts, and problem solving across one or more product initiatives.
• Own design direction for a major product or subsystem from concept through mass production milestones such as EVT, DVT, and PVT.
• Drive cross-functional decisions involving ergonomics, mechanical and electrical constraints, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Help elevate the team through mentorship and by setting strong quality and craft standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a closely related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience creating consumer electronics or wearable technology products.
• Strong ability in communication, visual storytelling, and structured problem solving.
• Proficiency with Rhino 3D, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
• Hands-on experience exploring and improving ideas through 2D visualization and physical models/prototypes.
• Background in designing products intended for high-volume manufacturing.
• Comfort working in highly ambiguous situations and driving clarity.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience using AI tools to improve design workflows and deliver measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
• Knowledge of responsible AI practices, including risk review, bias reduction, and checks for accuracy and quality.
• Ongoing development in AI-related skills such as prompt design, context engineering, and agent coordination.
• Experience designing robots.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary for this role is $173,000 to $245,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits are also available.
