Role overview

Alt Platform Inc. is hiring a full-time Machine Learning Engineer to join its team. This person will build and improve advanced machine learning and data analysis systems, with a strong focus on domain-specific modeling, feature engineering, and scalable production deployment. The role is fully remote within the United States and reports to the San Francisco, CA headquarters. No travel is required.

What you will do

• Run applied research and experimentation to design, train, assess, and refine machine learning models, including feature engineering, model selection, performance validation, and documentation of methods.
• Build, test, and release production ML systems while managing the full MLOps workflow, including experiment tracking, version control for models, containerization, automated orchestration, and production monitoring.
• Support and improve ML infrastructure for training, inference, and data pipelines by setting up cloud compute, tuning distributed jobs, and increasing scalability and efficiency.
• Work with business teams to turn analytical needs into measurable modeling goals, establish evaluation metrics, test assumptions with data, and clearly present findings and results.
• Prepare and review technical materials such as model specifications, architecture diagrams, data-flow diagrams, and integration documentation.
• Create AI automation solutions with large language models to improve internal processes, build agentic workflows, review automated outputs, and track gains in accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop internal tools and backend services that improve data quality, support analytics workflows, surface model insights, and connect with internal systems and APIs.

Requirements

• Master’s degree, or an equivalent foreign credential, in data science, economics, mathematics, or computer science, plus 1 year of experience in a relevant role; pre-master’s experience may count.
• At least 1 year of experience building and evaluating machine learning models with Python-based data science libraries, including feature engineering and predictive/descriptive modeling using tools such as scikit-learn and pandas.
• Hands-on experience with ML lifecycle platforms such as MLflow or similar tools for experiment tracking, repeatable training workflows, and model versioning.
• Experience using Docker to package machine learning pipelines and create reproducible deployment environments.
• At least 1 year of experience scheduling, monitoring, and managing dependencies for data and ML workflows with Apache Airflow.
• At least 1 year of experience using CI/CD tooling to automate training, testing, and deployment.
• At least 1 year of experience setting up and tuning cloud compute environments for training, inference, and large-scale data processing.
• Experience building AI automation workflows with language models and integrating them into analytical or operational processes.
• Experience creating backend services and APIs with FastAPI, REST, or GraphQL for data access, model serving, and analytics tools.
• At least 1 year of experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, including analytical querying and data-quality validation.
• Experience using distributed processing tools such as Spark for large-scale data transformation and feature engineering.
