Sevita’s ResCare Community Living division delivers services that help people build greater independence, strengthen everyday skills, and live more fully in their homes and communities. Since 1974, the organization has supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through person-centered care and experienced support teams.

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Worker / Handyman, you will help keep all facilities, equipment, and surrounding grounds operating safely and looking their best. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, repairs, compliance, and coordination with vendors and inspectors across multiple programs and offices in an assigned region.

What You Will Do

• Manage ongoing preventive maintenance for several offices and programs within your region.
• Organize and prioritize work tasks so available tools, equipment, and time are used efficiently.
• Work with outside contractors and confirm that completed work meets quality expectations.
• Address service and equipment-related concerns and resolve issues within your area of responsibility.
• Share and follow maintenance procedures related to building operations.
• Keep buildings and grounds aligned with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Repair and maintain kitchen equipment, housekeeping equipment, heating and cooling systems, electrical and plumbing fixtures, paintwork, and laundry machines.
• Prepare building requirement plans, interpret blueprints, and carry out work based on them.
• Install wiring for computer networking where needed.
• Inspect and fix damage to building surfaces and related structures.
• Set up and manage inventory tracking for parts, supplies, and equipment.
• Establish vendor accounts and ensure essential maintenance materials are ordered and stocked.
• Maintain appliance motors, exhaust fans, pumps, and other equipment on a monthly schedule or according to manufacturer guidance.
• Coordinate with building inspectors, fire marshals, and vendors as needed.
• Maintain fire protection systems, including smoke and heat detectors and fire pull stations.
• Support safety and disaster preparedness planning when required.
• Keep accurate operational records and related data, while promoting adherence to safety rules.
• Carry out additional duties and related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 year of related maintenance experience.
• Practical knowledge of, and ability to operate, maintenance and electrical equipment.
• Current contractor license, where required by state law.
