About the Role
Blaze Credit Union is seeking a dedicated Mortgage Processor to manage first and second mortgage loan applications from initial submission through to closing. This role is crucial in ensuring loans meet all underwriting, regulatory, and secondary market requirements. The position also involves assisting the processing manager in organizing and prioritizing the department's workflow.
Responsibilities
- Process first and second mortgage loan applications accurately, ensuring compliance with underwriting approvals, secondary market guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Issue initial mortgage disclosures within mandated compliance timelines.
- Gather necessary documentation and information from members and third parties, including appraisers, loan officers, title companies, and agents.
- Initiate requests for property valuations, title reports, employment verification, and flood certifications.
- Confirm that homeowners' insurance policies are current and provide adequate coverage for all associated loans.
- Prepare loan files for underwriting review, ensuring all stipulations are met.
- Submit loan applications through the underwriting system, aiming for a 99% approval rate based on verified findings.
- Promote Blaze Credit Union products and services to meet member financial needs and organizational growth targets.
- Coordinate and schedule loan closing appointments for purchases and refinances, maintaining clear communication with members regarding file status.
- Prepare final closing documents and conduct verbal employment verifications, obtaining updated payoff statements and insurance details.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant financial services experience, preferably in mortgage processing.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Capacity to lead departmental processes and contribute to broader organizational knowledge sharing.
- Familiarity with Encompass software is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond proactively to member and employee inquiries based on established guidelines.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, operate a computer, communicate via phone, and potentially travel to different offices.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
