Role Overview
GDS Africa is looking for an Oracle application specialist with deep experience across SOA, OSB, MFT, and WebCenter. The position focuses on designing, building, administering, and supporting enterprise integration and content platforms in a production environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Build and support integrations between Oracle Service Bus and databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, as well as ERP platforms and external applications.
- Design resilient services with effective fault recovery and error-handling mechanisms so integrations remain stable and recover gracefully.
- Apply service security controls, including WS-Security, authentication, authorization, encryption, SSL certificate handling, and user access management.
- Use development tools such as JDeveloper, Eclipse, and similar utilities to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle-based solutions.
- Work with protocols and middleware technologies such as HTTP, JMS, JDBC, and related communication standards.
- Install, configure, and administer Oracle middleware components, including OSB, MFT, WebCenter Portal, and WebCenter Content.
- Set up clustering, load balancing, and high-availability configurations for enterprise environments.
- Design and develop OSB integration assets such as proxy services, business services, pipelines, mediations, and message transformations.
- Implement Oracle MFT solutions for partner file exchange workflows, including SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS endpoints, scheduling, and automation.
- Create transformation logic using XML, XSLT, and XQuery, and build WSDL/SOAP and REST-based interfaces.
- Manage secure file transfers, including encryption, key handling, certificate administration, and compliance-related controls.
- Deploy and operate integrations on Oracle WebLogic, and contribute to patching, upgrades, deployments, and migrations.
- Prepare design documents, operational runbooks, and handover material while coordinating with architects, security teams, and operations teams.
- Track platform health, availability, and capacity, then apply performance tuning and optimization where needed.
- Investigate issues across WebLogic Server, OSB, MFT, WebCenter Portal, WebCenter Content, and Fusion Middleware, and provide root-cause analysis.
- Maintain disaster recovery documentation and backup procedures.
- Provide production support on a 24/7 basis when business needs require it.
- Work on microservices-related initiatives, including converting legacy services to REST-based microservices.
- Use version control tools such as SVN, Git, and Bitbucket for source management.
- Support CI/CD and DevOps workflows using tools such as Jenkins and Git.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 3 and 7 years of hands-on experience with Oracle WebLogic Server, OSB, MFT, WebCenter Portal, WebCenter Content, and Fusion Middleware.
- Strong practical knowledge of XML, XSLT, XQuery, WSDL, SOAP, REST, and Java.
- Solid experience with Oracle Database, SQL/PLSQL, and integration with database systems.
- Comfort with secure transfer methods such as SFTP and FTPS, along with encryption and certificate management.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven, plus basic Linux/Unix administration.
- Experience in Linux/Unix environments, including scripting.
- Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as OEM, Nagios, and Splunk, as well as performance tuning practices.
- Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Oracle certification in OWC, OSB, or MFT is preferred.
- Exposure to cloud integration platforms such as Oracle Cloud, OCI, or AWS, and API management practices.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging tools such as Kafka and JMS.
