Part-Time Retail Store Associate

Role Overview

This part-time retail store associate role at Asher's Chocolate Co. is based in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Key Responsibilities

• Work safely and efficiently at all times.
• Respond to customer questions about products and help resolve concerns so shoppers leave satisfied.
• Manage priorities well and handle multiple tasks throughout the shift.
• Keep the store neat, organized, and free from outdated or damaged merchandise, except for designated “hurt” products.
• Support product sales through effective merchandising and by creating an attractive shopping environment.
• Process transactions accurately, maintain store records, and handle money correctly through the register system, including cash, checks, credit cards, debit cards, and gift certificates.
• Issue refunds or credits when needed and provide the correct change.
• Take phone orders accurately.
• Rotate inventory using a first-in, first-out method to maintain product freshness.
• Provide gift-wrapping services and package products properly for transport.
• Communicate clearly with customers both verbally and in writing.
• Follow warehouse and company procedures, including safety guidelines, GMPs, QA checklists, production standards, and other required processes.
• Bring a positive, helpful attitude and contribute constructively with team members and customers.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and understand English well enough to perform all job duties safely.
• Physical capability to walk, pull, push, and lift boxes up to 50 pounds to a height of 5 feet, either alone, as a team lift, or using material-handling equipment, over an 8-hour shift.
• Willingness to learn retail sales processes such as merchandising, cash handling, customer service, and organization.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to work in a retail environment with hard floors, continuous standing and walking, and temperature changes ranging from 65°F to over 80°F.
• Willingness to work in a climate-controlled facility that may contain allergens.
• Travel may be required for specialized events, representing about 5% to 10% of the role.
