Payroll Manager

About the role

Sangoma Technologies is hiring an experienced payroll leader to own the company’s payroll operations end to end. This position is based in Sarasota, Florida and focuses on salary and hourly payroll, commission processing, payroll accounting entries, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance across international operations.

The team is looking for someone who can fully take charge of the payroll function, improve processes continuously, and serve as a trusted in-house payroll specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee payroll operations from start to finish, covering weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and international pay cycles.
• Review, reconcile, and validate payroll data before transmission to support accurate and timely payments across multiple countries.
• Manage, coach, and develop the payroll team.
• Act as the main point of contact for employees, auditors, and vendors on domestic and global payroll matters.
• Ensure adherence to international payroll rules, including tax equalization and withholding tax obligations in different jurisdictions.
• Handle timely filing of payroll compliance documents for global business needs.
• Spot opportunities to improve payroll processes and help implement global payroll systems and automation.
• Work closely with People, Legal, Accounting, and FP&A teams on payroll and equity-related alignment.
• Prepare accurate monthly general ledger entries with the accounting team.
• Build ad hoc and recurring payroll and finance reports for various teams and countries.
• Support PTO administration in coordination with HR and local managers.
• Take on additional duties as needed to support team and business priorities.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of payroll management experience, including 3 or more years leading global payroll teams, or a similar mix of education and progressively responsible experience.
• Strong leadership, people management, and team-building ability.
• Background handling multi-state and international payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
• Deep knowledge of tax equalization and worldwide payroll laws and compliance requirements.
• Practical experience using ADP Workforce Now and Deel payroll software.
• Strong understanding of SOX requirements and experience working with auditors and outside service providers.
• Solid grasp of U.S. and international payroll legislation.
• Analytical, process-oriented approach with a history of improving payroll workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; an associate degree is acceptable. Strong skills in ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Word, Excel, and 10-key are required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across international teams.
