About the Role

Spire Washington Hospital is looking to hire a Porter to deliver a high standard of support to patients, visitors, consultants, and staff across the hospital. This position plays a key part in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by providing courteous portering, courier, security, and distribution support throughout the site.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Washington, England, United Kingdom.

Key Duties

• Move, escort, and support patients safely around the hospital in a considerate and professional way.
• Help maintain the safety of patients, staff, and consultants.
• Handle the movement of clean and used linen between departments.
• Support proper collection and disposal of domestic and clinical waste in line with hospital and corporate waste procedure WM01.
• Assist with the protection of the hospital and surrounding grounds, and escalate any security concerns to senior management.
• Log maintenance concerns with the Maintenance team through Pirana.
• Carry out driving work when needed.

What We Are Looking For

No formal academic qualifications are needed for this post, but the candidate must be able to communicate clearly with patients and colleagues and maintain a neat, professional appearance suitable for a healthcare setting. The role suits someone with strong customer care, good organisation, and the ability to work independently.

A clean driving licence is required. The successful applicant should also be comfortable working evenings, nights, and weekends.
