About One New Zealand

One New Zealand’s mission is to help build a more connected Aotearoa New Zealand. The company is investing in simpler, improved products and services to deliver better experiences for people across the country. It values diversity of thought, perspective, and background, and promotes a welcoming workplace with flexible working practices that support balance between personal and professional life.

Your Role

As Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of projects across the Cloud & Infrastructure Platforms areas, including datacentres and modern workplace initiatives. Your work will focus on meeting agreed timelines, budgets, quality expectations, and scope while partnering with programme leaders and technology teams to advance modernisation efforts and keep delivery practices consistent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects to the agreed standards for quality, budget, scope, and timeframe.
  • Support strategic technology modernisation programmes such as cloud transformation, infrastructure lifecycle management, datacentre improvement, workplace technology updates, and platform migration work.
  • Coordinate interdependencies across cloud, datacentre, workplace, cybersecurity, and operational support functions.
  • Contribute to architecture governance activities, including solution review sessions and technical approval discussions.
  • Lead platform transformation efforts covering cloud adoption, containerisation, automation, and retirement of legacy technologies.
  • Oversee build, migration, testing, cutover, and decommissioning work across cloud, virtualisation, container, storage, backup, and datacentre environments.
  • Work proactively with vendors, suppliers, and delivery partners to achieve strong project results.
  • Ensure suppliers remain accountable and focused on outcomes that benefit One NZ.
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare clear project scope documents and governance materials.
  • Track project status, forecasting, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review delivery methods and identify opportunities to improve tools, approaches, and practices.
  • Run productive project meetings and maintain accountability across delivery teams.
  • Support successful project completion, transition, and close-out documentation.

What You’ll Bring

You should bring recognised project management certification such as Prince2 or PMP, along with strong experience delivering projects in telecommunications or other large enterprise settings. Background in major cloud and infrastructure programmes is important, particularly in areas such as hybrid cloud, datacentre infrastructure, virtualisation, container platforms, workplace technologies, storage, backup and recovery, or network-integrated environments.

The role also calls for experience with complex migrations, infrastructure refreshes, platform upgrades, production cutovers, and technology lifecycle initiatives. Familiarity with technologies such as VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, AWS, storage and backup systems, and enterprise networking concepts will be valuable.

You will need a solid understanding of governance, architecture review processes, risk management, and operational readiness. Experience handling project budgets, forecasting, business cases, and governance reporting in a large enterprise is important, along with strong FinOps knowledge and technology optimisation practices. You should also be confident managing supplier and vendor contracts, and bring excellent analytical ability, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Success in this role requires comfort working in fast-moving and changing technology environments.

What You’ll Get

  • Flexible working practices, including the ability to work from home and adjust hours to suit work and whānau commitments for many roles.
  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance for you and your family.
  • Lifestyle leave, with the option to buy an extra one or two weeks of annual leave.
  • Discounts on One New Zealand products, services, and more.
