Company Overview
Terabase Energy is focused on using digital tools and automation to lower costs and make large-scale solar deployment more scalable. The company is building an integrated software and construction automation platform that helps with the design, optimization, and delivery of utility-scale solar projects across the world.
The organization brings together experienced solar professionals and people from software, electrical, and mechanical engineering, along with product, project, sales, and marketing teams working from Northern California and other locations globally.
Position Summary
Terabase is looking for a Project Manager to take full ownership of execution for a fast-paced solar construction equipment program. In this role, you will manage the overall schedule, key dependencies, and milestone checkpoints across several engineering workstreams, supply chain activity, and external partners. The position is intended to separate program management from design leadership so engineering managers can concentrate on technical delivery.
Location & Travel
- Onsite presence in Davis/Woodland, California, in the Sacramento area.
- Travel of up to 20% to project test locations and partner sites, depending on program needs.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the master program timeline spanning engineering teams, supply chain functions, and outside partners.
- Keep the program on track toward hardware milestones and subsequent certification deliverables by driving the critical path.
- Manage regular reporting to leadership, including a weekly internal stand-up and a monthly executive review.
- Oversee the intellectual property disclosure process by routing submissions from engineering through internal review and outside counsel, while keeping the tracker current.
- Spot program risks early, work on mitigation plans, and escalate items that need executive decisions.
- Align cross-functional dependencies such as third-party integration partners, supply chain qualification, and accredited testing labs.
- Maintain both a RAID log covering risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies, and a decision log.
- Run phase-gate reviews and confirm that each gate’s criteria have been met before the next stage begins.
Requirements
- At least 5-7 years of technical program or project management experience in a hardware engineering environment.
- A proven history of coordinating multi-track engineering programs against milestone-based phase gates.
- Excellent executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- Strong familiarity with modern project engineering and management platforms.
- Preferred: experience in fast-changing engineering programs, especially work involving new or unique developments.
- Preferred: prior handling of intellectual property disclosure processes with internal and external counsel.
- Preferred: PMP, PgMP, or a similar professional certification.
- Preferred: working knowledge of MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar program management software.
Benefits
- Base pay of $130,000 to $155,000 per year, depending on experience and fit.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous vacation and holiday time off.
- Hybrid flexibility for work that does not require field presence.
- 401(k) matching.
- Stock options.
- Home office setup support.
- Career growth and learning assistance.
