Role overview
Mott MacDonald is looking for a Project Manager to join its Advisory and Programme Delivery team in Ireland, with opportunities based in Dublin and Cork. This is a permanent, full-time position focused on leading complex infrastructure workstreams and helping shape a growing project management function.
The role sits within a global engineering, management, and development consultancy operating in more than 50 countries with a team of over 20,000 professionals. As an employee-owned organisation, the business emphasises support, inclusion, flexibility, and access to the tools needed to perform well.
About the team
The Advisory and Programme Delivery unit provides management services across built environment, defence, energy, water, transportation, education, health, and care. The Ireland team is expanding and includes project and programme managers, planners, commercial managers, and quantity surveyors across Belfast, Dublin, Cork, and Galway.
What you will do
- Lead delivery of project commitments while maintaining internal performance standards.
- Ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality.
- Embed sustainability practices across project delivery.
- Oversee health, safety, and wellbeing for everyone involved in the project.
- Work within internal and client governance limits and ensure the appropriate safety management system is used.
- Control project spend and final outturn cost, including approvals through the required governance route.
- Coordinate closely with supply chain and procurement teams to keep interfaces effective.
- Run the change control process and document changes to time, cost, and quality.
- Manage stakeholders actively, align expectations, and maintain involvement in key decisions.
- Identify, assess, allocate, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
- Support commercial goals by ensuring reporting and required information are delivered on time and to standard.
- Maintain strong communication with the client and the wider programme team.
- Own the project programme and update it with multidisciplinary delivery teams as needed.
- Close out projects efficiently and thoroughly.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have project management experience, preferably in consultancy or engineering environments, along with a proactive approach, strong integration skills, and a commitment to service excellence. You should be comfortable leading teams, advising clients, and contributing to a growing senior delivery group.
Requirements
- A degree in engineering and/or project management, or substantial relevant experience in project management.
- Membership of APM or PMI at associate level, or membership of Engineers Ireland.
- Ideally chartered, or actively working towards chartered status such as ChPP or an equivalent route.
- Proven capability in project management.
- Experience leading project teams to successful outcomes, including mentoring or managing junior project managers.
- A full driving licence.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and stakeholders.
- Clear communication skills across clients, project teams, business managers, and other business units.
- Solid commercial judgement and practical knowledge of planning and project controls.
- Experience working under FIDIC, NEC, or Public Works Contracts.
