Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Quantity Surveyor position in Tuas, West Region, Singapore. The role focuses on cost management and commercial support for steel structure projects across the full project lifecycle. You will handle BOQ preparation, cost estimating, tender documentation, cost monitoring, variation tracking, reporting, and support for claims, final accounts, and contract administration. The position requires close coordination with engineers, site personnel, subcontractors, project managers, and stakeholders to help keep budgets under control while ensuring work meets specifications and compliance standards.
Key Duties
- Prepare and assess Bills of Quantities, estimates, and tender submissions for structural steel projects.
- Track project expenditures, identify cost changes, and maintain up-to-date variation records.
- Produce regular cost updates and reports for project managers and other stakeholders.
- Carry out cost planning and commercial support from pre-contract through post-contract phases.
- Measure and value completed works accurately to support progress claims and final accounts.
- Coordinate with engineers, site teams, and subcontractors to resolve commercial and project-related matters.
- Assist with contract administration and help protect project budgets without compromising quality or specifications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Solid ability in cost planning and cost control, including building and monitoring project budgets.
- Practical experience with BOQ preparation, quantity measurement, and project documentation in steel or construction work.
- Background in monitoring costs, managing variations, and preparing progress and final account documentation.
- Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of construction contracts, tendering procedures, and basic contract administration.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for working with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work on-site in Tuas and manage several tasks or projects within deadlines.
- Experience in steel structures or industrial construction projects will be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel work and the Singapore construction industry.
- Must be able to work independently.
