Senior Manager, Deployment

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Deployment will own the full delivery lifecycle for telecommunications rollout programs, making sure each project is executed safely, delivered on schedule, kept within budget, and aligned with customer expectations as well as internal business goals. This position directs cross-functional teams involved in network build activity, such as RF engineering, site construction, and field operations, with a particular emphasis on Tier 1 carrier standards. The work also calls for strong knowledge of wireless deployment, infrastructure integration, and field logistics, including temporary and backup power solutions like mobile generators.

What You'll Lead

• Shape, roll out, and refine strategies for wireless network expansion, upgrades, and greenfield site deployments.
• Keep all deployment work aligned with Tier 1 carrier requirements, service commitments, and quality benchmarks.
• Manage and coach project managers, RF engineers, construction managers, and deployment coordinators.
• Work in close partnership with RF engineering to protect design integrity, improve coverage, and meet performance goals.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, sales, and field teams so deployment plans support broader business objectives.
• Guide telecommunications programs from site acquisition through construction, integration, and on-air turn-up.
• Oversee level work, tower modifications, equipment installs, and site construction activities.
• Own delivery accountability for timelines, milestones, and overall project results.
• Direct site-level installation of antennas, radios, fiber, and backhaul infrastructure.
• Manage the use of temporary and permanent power systems, including mobile generators and backup solutions.
• Supervise subcontractors and field crews to ensure safety, quality, and compliance expectations are met.
• Work with RF teams to translate design requirements into field execution.
• Support site acceptance, drive testing, and performance checks to verify network readiness.
• Maintain strong working relationships with carriers, vendors, and subcontractors to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Negotiate agreements, review vendor performance, and enforce service-level commitments.
• Build and manage budgets, forecasts, and resource plans with full responsibility for P&L performance.
• Track financial results and steer work toward revenue and profitability targets.
• Protect cost efficiency while upholding quality and compliance standards.
• Optimize staffing and resource use to support both operational delivery and financial outcomes.
• Ensure all work follows regulatory, environmental, and permitting obligations tied to telecommunications deployment.
• Maintain adherence to OSHA, local safety rules, and industry best practices.
• Monitor progress, identify risks, and put mitigation actions in place when issues threaten delivery.
• Share regular status updates, KPI reporting, and outcome summaries with executive leaders and stakeholders.
• Run post-deployment reviews and convert lessons learned into improved operating practices.
• Apply best practices that improve deployment speed, safety, and network performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in telecommunications deployment, wireless construction, or program/project leadership.
• Proven background working with Tier 1 carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile, along with their operating standards and processes.
• Strong understanding of RF engineering concepts and how they apply to deployment execution.
• Experience managing large, multi-site rollouts, including level work and field construction tasks.
• Hands-on exposure to power deployment, including mobile generator use and site power integration.
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to guide diverse, cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Working knowledge of project management methods such as Agile and Waterfall, plus tools like MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
• Ability to evaluate data, monitor KPIs, and use insights to make sound strategic decisions.
• Preferred: PMI/PMP certification or an equivalent credential.
• Preferred: Experience with 5G rollout, small cell, and macro site buildouts.
• Preferred: Familiarity with fiber deployment and backhaul technologies.
• Preferred: Understanding of site acquisition, zoning, and permitting workflows.
• Additional expectation: willingness to travel as required for field deployments and customer meetings.
• Additional expectation: comfort working in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment where priorities can shift quickly.
