Role Overview

Hayden AI Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer, Perception to work on computer vision and machine learning systems that power its products. The role involves building dependable, high-quality software across the full lifecycle of CV/ML algorithms, from early experimentation through production deployment and ongoing refinement.

Key Responsibilities

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code as part of software development efforts.
• Support the complete lifecycle of computer vision and machine learning pipelines, including prototyping, optimization, production hardening, and accuracy improvements.
• Plan and carry out detailed testing for CV/ML algorithms, including prototype checks, performance evaluation, integration testing, and deployment readiness.
• Investigate algorithm-related issues using root cause analysis, identify recurring patterns in real-world field behavior, and recommend process or design improvements.
• Build cloud-based pipelines that monitor algorithm and device health in staging and production, and help surface systemic problems early.
• Develop and maintain cloud services that support post-processing AI algorithms and internal tools used for algorithm development and performance analysis.
• Work closely with device software, cloud, and algorithm teams to implement improvements based on insights from production data.

Education and Experience

The position requires a Master of Science degree, or an equivalent foreign degree, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Candidates should also have at least two years of experience in the offered role or in closely related positions such as Software Engineer, Software Engineering Intern, Research Assistant, or Undergraduate Researcher.

Specialized Requirements

• At least two years of software engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• At least two years of programming experience in Python.
• At least two years of experience using one or more of the following tools: OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy, or Pandas for algorithms and data analysis.
• At least two years of experience performing root cause analysis and proposing practical, data-backed solutions.
• At least two years of experience building industrial-grade software and writing production-ready code, especially for backend or full-stack systems.
• At least two years of experience applying core software engineering practices such as version control, testing, and deployment best practices.

Compensation and Work Location

The salary for this role ranges from $161,637 to $175,000 per year. The position is based in San Francisco, California, at 460 Bryant Street, Suite 100, San Francisco, CA 94107.
