Truck Driver

Overview

Iron Horse Rentals Ltd is hiring a truck driver for its Langley, British Columbia location. This is a hands-on, on-site role with no remote-work option.

A secondary school graduation certificate is required, or a comparable level of experience may be considered.

Experience

Applicants should have between 1 year and less than 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer complaints and concerns in a professional manner.
• Deliver courteous and effective customer service.
• Coordinate trip details, including itineraries and reservations where needed.
• Operate as part of a two-driver team or convoy when required.
• Drive light-duty and special-purpose trucks.
• Load and unload freight safely.
• Secure any permits or supporting documents needed for international cargo movement.
• Operate straight or articulated trucks to move goods and materials.
• Check the vehicle condition, including tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated equipment, and related systems.
• Handle payment collection and processing for goods.
• Carry out brake adjustments.
• Perform emergency roadside fixes when necessary.
• Complete pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and monitor all aspects of the vehicle.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance.
• Communicate updates and instructions to central dispatch.
• Maintain records such as cargo details, service hours, distance driven, and fuel use.
• Secure cargo with tarps and protect it during transport.
• Transport and manage dangerous goods in accordance with safety requirements.

Experience and Specialization

Applicants should be familiar with the following documentation and operational areas:

• Accident and incident reporting.
• Driver logbooks.
• Inspection reports for pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip checks.
• Maintenance and repair documentation.
• Trip reports.
• Straight truck operation, including vehicles over 4,600 kg / 10,000 lbs with 3 or more axles.
• Use of GPS and other navigation tools.
• Local, provincial/territorial, and short-haul transportation work.

Additional Information

A valid driver's licence is required for this role.
