Role overview

Join a mission-driven healthcare team as a remote Utilization Management (UM) Administrative Coordinator supporting the Behavioral Health (BH) UM function. In this role, you will report to a Supervisor of Referrals and handle a range of administrative and support-focused duties that help the department operate smoothly.

Key duties

Track and manage the BH UM phone queue.
Enter information accurately into the medical management system.
Review documents at a non-clinical level and route pending items to the correct queues for completion or for follow-up information.

Required qualifications

This position is tied to a U.S. Department of Defense contract, so U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
You must be able to obtain interim approval for government security clearance through NBIS (National Background Investigation Service).
Candidates residing in Puerto Rico cannot be considered because the contract does not allow work from that location.
The schedule requires availability from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and you must live in the Central, Mountain, or Pacific time zone.
At least 2 years of administrative support experience, including data entry.
At least 2 years of experience handling customer service calls by phone.
At least 2 years of exposure to medical terminology and/or ICD-10 coding.
At least 2 years of experience using electronic medical records and documentation systems.

Preferred background

Experience in behavioral health is an advantage.
Prior work with TRICARE or another military health system is preferred.
Experience in utilization review or prior authorization within a managed care environment is a plus.

Work-from-home requirements

A reliable self-provided internet connection is required.
Recommended minimum speed is 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
Wireless, cable, or DSL internet is preferred.
Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections may be used only if leadership approves them.
Employees based in California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota may receive a bi-weekly payment toward internet expenses.
Humana will supply the telephone equipment needed for the role.
You must work from a dedicated space with no ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Additional notes

Although this is a remote role, occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be necessary.
The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Pay and benefits

The expected starting base salary for this full-time role is between $39,000 and $49,400 per year, with actual pay depending on location, skills, experience, education, certifications, and other job-related factors.
