Role overview
The Warehouse Supervisor will manage daily warehouse activities for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods in a food manufacturing setting. This role is responsible for keeping inbound and outbound operations running smoothly, ensuring safe and accurate inventory movement, and supporting production schedules through strong coordination, systems use, and team leadership.
The position also focuses on maintaining high standards in safety, GMP compliance, traceability, inventory accuracy, reporting, and continuous improvement. Use of WMS/ERP platforms such as SAP, along with advanced Excel, is an important part of the job.
Key responsibilities
- Build and reinforce a strong safety culture by leading safety conversations, investigating incidents, and following through on corrective actions.
- Maintain GMP, food safety, and regulatory compliance, and prepare the warehouse for internal and external audits.
- Coordinate warehouse inbound and outbound flow, including receiving, dock scheduling, dock-to-stock, put-away, replenishment, picking, staging, and shipping finished goods.
- Ensure proper segregation, labeling, traceability, and quality discipline throughout all material handling steps.
- Own cycle counts and investigate inventory variances to preserve accurate stock records.
- Keep WMS and ERP transactions accurate for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods movement, with complete audit-ready documentation.
- Oversee the safe use and maintenance of forklifts, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment, while confirming operator training and certification.
- Track and share warehouse KPIs such as inventory accuracy, pick accuracy, fill rate, dock-to-stock time, and cycle count completion.
- Review trends, identify root causes, and lead corrective and continuous improvement actions that strengthen service, quality, and cost performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse associates through feedback, training, SOP reinforcement, and equipment guidance.
- Promote teamwork, engagement, and clear communication across shifts, including well-managed handovers.
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, Finance, and Engineering to align priorities and remove operational bottlenecks.
- Contribute operational input to annual planning, capacity planning, and warehouse space utilization decisions.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of warehouse supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems and ERP platforms such as SAP.
- Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivots, and charts.
- Experience working in food manufacturing or another highly regulated environment handling raw materials and packaging for production.
- Familiarity with food industry audit and compliance standards such as BRC, CFIA, HACCP, SQF, and GFSI.
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, logistics, operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- Experience with audit readiness, CAPA closure, and CHEP/returnable management is preferred.
- Ability to analyze KPIs and turn data into practical action.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment.
- Clear, professional communication and strong collaboration across functions and shifts.
- High attention to detail, disciplined SOP compliance, and accurate documentation habits.
- Ability to train, coach, and hold teams accountable to safety, quality, and service expectations.
- Comfort working on-site in a manufacturing warehouse with standing, walking, and lifting as required by safety guidelines.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, extended hours, and weekends when production demands require it.
- Ability to adapt to urgent requests and higher-volume periods while maintaining compliance and service levels.

Compensation
The posted salary range for this role is CAD 70,000 to CAD 80,000 per year. Final pay will depend on experience, skill set, education, training, and broader organizational needs, while also considering internal equity.
