Role overview
IAM Group is an expanding ASX-listed financial services company working in Australian fixed income and capital markets. The business is seeking a detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join its Sydney finance function and step into a practical, wide-ranging accounting position.
In this role, you will report to the Financial Accountant and partner with the CFO and broader leadership team. The position offers meaningful end-to-end involvement across a multi-entity finance environment from the outset. Prior experience in financial services is not essential; the team is looking for someone accurate, dependable, and keen to develop.
Key duties
- Handle accounts payable tasks, including invoice entry, payment processing, and reconciliation of corporate credit cards.
- Support monthly payroll activity, PAYG obligations, payroll tax reporting, and leave accrual calculations.
- Complete weekly bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting across several entities.
- Contribute to month-end close activities such as accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany journal entries.
- Prepare and lodge quarterly BAS submissions.
- Assist with annual compliance items including FBT, Workcover, and payroll tax requirements.
- Support half-year and full-year audit processes, along with preparation of statutory accounts.
- Provide general office assistance as part of the Sydney team.
Candidate profile
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CA or CPA qualification is ideal, and applicants who are currently progressing toward either designation are also welcome.
Experience in public accounting or a professional services environment will be viewed favourably. The right person will be organised, reliable, and highly attentive to detail, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to meet deadlines.
You should also be a clear communicator and a collaborative team member who takes ownership of their work.

- Direct interaction with the CFO and senior leadership.
- Work in a growing ASX-listed business where your contribution is visible and appreciated.
- Hybrid working arrangement and a friendly, collaborative team environment.
- Support available for CA/CPA development.
