This opening is for a Retail Assistant Manager / Assistant Store Leader Trainee in Smithers, British Columbia, Canada.

Key Duties

• Work with the Store Leader to guide customer service, training, and coaching for store employees.
• Help strengthen retention by identifying strong candidates, developing future leaders, empowering staff, and supporting productivity.
• Support execution of merchandising and marketing initiatives.
• Handle cash, fuel transactions, and promotion of the loyalty program.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked store by following health and sanitation standards.
• Communicate clearly in speaking and writing and work effectively with others.
• Use basic computer tools, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Be able to perform repeated physical tasks such as bending, standing, and reaching, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or retail management experience is valued.
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but it is not mandatory for applicants with at least one year of retail management experience.
• A valid driver’s license from the state of residence is required, along with ongoing automotive liability insurance during employment.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail setting.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Computer proficiency, with Microsoft Office knowledge preferred.
