About the role
As an Associate Editor on the Editorial team, you will focus on polishing conference presentations and related documents. The position calls for someone with strong editing ability, a sharp eye for detail, and the flexibility to juggle multiple priorities. You’ll need to communicate clearly, work well with different teams, keep grammar and punctuation standards consistently high, manage your workflow efficiently, meet deadlines reliably, and keep building your skills over time.
Key responsibilities
- Edit reports, conference presentations, and other time-sensitive materials.
- Prepare documents for editing, including formatting and cleanup.
- Update content in Google Docs and Microsoft PowerPoint through the organization’s content management system.
- Identify unclear points, raise questions, and call out inconsistencies in documents.
- Verify factual claims, statistics, company names, product names, and similar details when needed.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and step in on additional tasks as required.
- Participate in ongoing role-specific training to preserve editorial standards and strengthen your skills.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or another relevant field.
- 0 to 3 years of editorial experience, ideally in a fast-paced, deadline-focused environment such as newspapers, magazines, or journals.
- Prior work with a newspaper or publication is considered an advantage.
- Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and overall language usage.
- Exposure to the AP Style Guide is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for learning.
- Ability to produce clean, audience-ready content.
- Good people skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Comfort with adapting quickly to new processes, editorial standards, and style changes.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and their Google Workspace equivalents.
- Ability to stay effective under pressure without sacrificing quality.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and a problem-solving approach.
- Willingness to take initiative while managing potential risks.
