Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Business Development Manager position in Auckland. The role is centered on finding and assessing new business opportunities, building a healthy prospect pipeline, and managing the sales process from first contact through to negotiation and deal closure.
You will develop and carry out strategic account plans, research the market and competitors, and partner with product, marketing, and delivery teams to shape solutions aligned to client needs. The position also includes preparing and presenting proposals, presentations, and demos; keeping CRM information accurate; producing forecasts and performance updates; representing the company at industry events; maintaining strong client relationships; and capturing client feedback to help shape future offerings.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential business opportunities.
- Source, qualify, and nurture prospects through the sales funnel.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from outreach to contract negotiation and final closure.
- Create and execute strategic account plans.
- Study market conditions and competitor activity to spot growth opportunities.
- Work closely with product, marketing, and delivery teams to tailor solutions for clients.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations.
- Maintain up-to-date records in the CRM system.
- Share forecasts and performance reports on a regular basis.
- Represent the organization at industry events and build long-term client relationships.
- Collect customer feedback and use it to guide future improvements.
Requirements
- Background in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in technology or professional services.
- Proven ability to build, manage, and progress a sales pipeline.
- Experience with prospecting, lead qualification, and closing deals.
- Strong client management, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to research markets, interpret trends, and identify new opportunities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong organization, planning, and time management abilities.
- Comfort working across multiple opportunities at the same time.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work across functions such as product, marketing, finance, and delivery.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems and standard business tools such as spreadsheets and presentation software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience with the Auckland or broader New Zealand market is an advantage.
