Role Overview
Choice Care is hiring a Care Assistant (Driver) to support people in Blackburn and nearby areas. The role is based at Choice Care, Suite 16, Blackburn Enterprise Centre, Furthergate, and involves delivering care in clients’ homes rather than in a single fixed workplace. Coverage includes Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington, Oswaldtwistle, and Burnley, with night work remaining in one location for the full shift.
The organisation provides home care and support for people with end-of-life needs, dementia, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities, helping them remain in their own homes with dignity and the best possible quality of life. Choice Care has worked in the area for 26 years and serves both public-sector and private clients.
Training and Pay
Applicants without prior experience can still apply and will be trained while earning. New starters begin with classroom-based induction delivered by the in-house registered nurse and management team, followed by one-to-one mentoring from an experienced qualified carer.
Pay starts at £12.75 per hour for candidates with no experience. Those with at least 6 months of care experience receive £13.10 per hour. If you already have NVQ Level 2 or above in Health & Social Care, or once you gain it, the rate increases to £13.50 per hour.
Main Duties
The role centres on providing personal care and practical support that enables clients to stay safely and comfortably at home. You will be expected to follow care plans, work to the required standard of care, and support people with varied and often complex needs.

Employer Information
Choice Care was established in 1999 by Andrew and Fiona Key. The business brings together more than 70 years of combined experience in health and social care and delivers high-quality home care services across Lancashire along the M65 corridor, bridging the gap between conventional home care and nursing support.
The company works with private clients and families as well as social services, Clinical Commissioning Groups, solicitors, and health professionals. It also collaborates with organisations such as East Lancashire Hospice, the Stroke Association, Dementia UK, Parkinson’s UK, and the MS Society to keep staff updated with current training and resources.
Training Culture
New carers complete induction training and must meet the required knowledge level in each subject area. They also complete a number of supervised shifts to demonstrate competence in following care plans and delivering the expected standard of support. Recruits work toward a care diploma or NVQ qualification, usually completed within 6 to 9 months.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Choice Care encourages applications from people who are eager to learn, develop, and build a career in the care sector. The organisation values commitment, compassion, and a willingness to grow, whether applicants already have care experience or are just starting out with no hands-on background.
Additional Information
Contract type: full-time. Closing date: Tuesday 30 June 2026. The organisation describes this role as part of a family-run team focused on long-term careers in care.
