Role overview
We are hiring a Caretaker to join a local team responsible for maintaining housing properties in Medway. This is a permanent, full-time field-based position working 42.5 hours per week. The annual pay is £28,737.55, and the role includes a company van and fuel card for travel.
What the job involves
You will carry out caretaking duties to a high standard, helping keep housing blocks and properties clean, safe, and well maintained. The role is centred on delivering strong customer service while meeting safety, quality, and cost-control expectations.
You will also make sure cleaning, repairs, and routine maintenance are completed according to agreed procedures and timescales.
Key duties
- Complete caretaking and cleaning tasks across housing properties.
- Support a local team in delivering a reliable, high-quality service.
- Carry out cleaning, repairs, and maintenance in line with set protocols and deadlines.
- Stay proactive with planned preventative maintenance and safety compliance across all blocks.
- Ensure upcoming work such as fire risk assessments, seasonal maintenance, and safety inspections is arranged at the correct intervals.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have previous experience in caretaking or cleaning. You will need strong written and spoken communication skills, good numeracy, the ability to follow standard operating procedures, and the confidence to use a PDA after training.
Additional information
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available. All appointments are subject to relevant background, identity, and security checks before employment begins.
To drive a company vehicle, you must be over 21 years old, have held a driving licence for at least 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points on your licence.
