About the Role
As a Commercial Relationship Manager, you will oversee, develop, and expand a portfolio of business customers through trusted, long-term relationships. Your work will centre on delivering personalised financial solutions, sharing proactive insights, and helping clients adapt as their needs change.
Working within a defined portfolio, you will make banking simpler for customers by developing a strong understanding of their businesses and providing strategic, practical solutions that support their goals and create shared value.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Timaru and Ashburton.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and grow profitable relationships across a portfolio of business clients.
- Gain a strong understanding of each customer’s business and provide tailored solutions that address both current requirements and future objectives.
- Promote useful resources such as workshops, supporting materials, and specialist assistance from internal and external sources.
- Expand and develop the portfolio while keeping strong, long-term relationships with established customers.
- Strengthen ANZ Business’s market presence by networking effectively and clearly communicating its value proposition.
- Work closely with teams across Business and the wider bank to help customers achieve growth and success.
- Deliver high-quality customer service that supports lasting relationships and a strong professional network.
What You Will Bring
- Hands-on experience in relationship management, business development, portfolio management, or account management.
- Experience in banking, finance, or accounting is preferred but not mandatory.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, along with strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Well-developed networking skills that help build customer relationships and grow portfolio value.
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn, even if you do not meet every requirement.
