Data Analyst

About the role

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is hiring a Data Analyst to support its Central Commercial Management Data & Insights team. The team focuses on turning data into practical, high-value insights that help the Commercial organization make better decisions and improve business outcomes. A key part of the role is strengthening confidence in data and analytics while removing barriers to fast, actionable information.

This role is part of a job family with progressive levels of responsibility, skill, and expertise. The final title and pay grade will depend on the selected candidate’s background and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, and prepare data from multiple sources so it is accurate and dependable, including using core systems and running queries to retrieve information.
• Analyze large datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and useful business insights.
• Build and apply analytical models to estimate future outcomes and trends.
• Perform statistical analysis to identify relationships and recurring patterns in the data.
• Design dashboards and reports that are clear, visually effective, and easy to interpret.
• Present findings to stakeholders using charts, graphs, and presentations.
• Review data regularly through audits and validation steps to maintain quality and integrity.
• Collaborate with teams across the business to understand data needs and deliver relevant insights.
• Use data insights to support continuous improvement and reduce defects in the organization.
• Help establish and maintain data governance practices so data can be used effectively across the business.
• Support and lead efforts to create durable data pipelines, automation, and advanced analytics solutions.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in a relevant field.

Compensation and benefits

No salary or stipend amount was specified.
