Denodo Developer / Data Virtualization Engineer

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Denodo professional to contribute to the development of a modern enterprise data platform in Riyadh. This role focuses on building scalable, high-performance data virtualization services that support analytics and digital transformation across the organisation.

You will work as part of a collaborative data engineering team, creating virtual data layers, connecting diverse sources, improving platform efficiency, and helping define data access and governance standards for enterprise use.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain Denodo virtual views, data services, and semantic data models.
• Develop reusable data services and APIs that support broad enterprise data access.
• Connect and harmonise data from relational databases, cloud systems, APIs, and flat files.
• Write VQL logic, including transformations, joins, and federated queries.
• Improve performance using caching, indexing, and query tuning techniques.
• Set up and support Denodo environments across development, testing, and production.
• Apply security controls, masking, role-based access, metadata management, and governance practices.
• Track platform health, resolve production incidents, and assist with deployments.
• Partner with data architects, BI teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders to turn business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and encourage consistent engineering standards and best practices.

Required skills and experience

• Practical experience developing and administering the Denodo Platform.
• Strong understanding of data virtualization concepts and architecture.
• Advanced SQL and VQL development capability.
• Experience building logical and semantic data models.
• Working knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, plus JSON and XML.
• Exposure to data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
• Solid familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimise large enterprise-scale data environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
