About the Company
The Horse is a Sydney-based brand creating curated leather lifestyle products. Founded in 2009 by Scott and Amy Hawkes, it started with leather footwear and a focus on craftsmanship, clean design and enduring quality. Over time, it has grown into a global ecommerce business while staying true to its original design values.
Backed by a compact, committed team, the business continues to expand its internal capabilities so it can support long-term growth and deliver classic products that are not tied to short-lived seasonal trends.
Role Summary
The Horse is seeking an Ecommerce Manager to oversee the performance, optimisation and daily running of its global websites. The role carries responsibility for the AU, US and UK sites and is focused on improving the customer journey, increasing conversion and strengthening commercial results across all digital stores.
Working alongside the Founder and the wider marketing team, you will spot growth opportunities, introduce website enhancements and keep the ecommerce experience operating at a high standard. This role suits someone who is highly detail-oriented, commercially aware and motivated by ongoing improvement that creates measurable business impact.
Requirements
You should bring 3–5 years of experience in ecommerce, digital trading or website management, along with a solid grasp of the factors that shape online performance. A strong command of Shopify and ecommerce best practices is essential, as is hands-on experience with merchandising, customer journeys and conversion improvement.
We are looking for someone who is analytical, proactive and comfortable balancing several priorities at once. You should be confident working with performance data, solution-focused in your approach and motivated by learning, growth and continuous refinement.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the AU, US and UK website performance and optimisation.
- Manage merchandising, collections, navigation and product presentation across the websites.
- Track site performance and uncover opportunities to lift conversion.
- Coordinate website launches, updates and the rollout of new features.
- Review customer behaviour and user journey insights to guide improvements.
- Plan and execute conversion rate optimisation initiatives.
- Partner with the Digital & Performance Marketing Manager to improve traffic conversion and campaign outcomes.
- Oversee site health and user experience across all markets.
- Manage external ecommerce platforms, tools, applications and integrations.
- Organise testing and optimisation activities across the websites.
- Prepare reporting on website performance, conversion metrics and revenue results.
- Lead strategy for website conversion, customer journey and online merchandising.
- Continuously identify and apply small improvements that strengthen revenue, conversion and customer experience.
Perks and Benefits
- Enjoy a close-knit, enjoyable team culture.
- Hold a role with significant ownership and visible impact.
- Work in a fast-paced and creative environment.
- Be based in modern office surroundings.
- Access onsite parking and staff discounts.
- Join a well-loved Australian brand.
- Contribute to a business with global growth ambitions.
- Gain opportunities to develop your career as the organisation scales.
