The Opportunity

Jetson is hiring a General Manager to take charge of branch operations in its new Portland market. This is a greenfield role with no existing team, no completed installations, and no local footprint yet. The GM will create and lead a team of residential HVAC and electrical professionals, build strategic plans for the business, drive operational excellence, and maintain strong customer service and compliance standards. You will own the P&L, create the operating playbook, and lead directly from the front starting on day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day activity for the Portland branch, covering scheduling, installations, service work, quality checks, and safety compliance.
• Recruit, build, and lead a strong team of HVAC technicians, electricians, project coordinators, and administrative staff from the ground up.
• Be actively present in the market each day, model Jetson’s culture, and attract and hire top talent that reflects the company’s values.
• Coach, support, and develop field staff so they consistently deliver an outstanding customer experience.
• Oversee vendors and subcontractors, and ensure partners meet expectations for quality and execution.
• Create local partnerships with utilities, contractors, and community groups to grow brand visibility and customer demand.
• Collect market intelligence and manage local regulatory, permitting, and compliance requirements, including Maryland contractor licensing rules.
• Collaborate with headquarters teams in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to improve offerings, strengthen the customer journey, and stay aligned with company priorities.
• Use data and key performance indicators to guide ongoing improvement and support corporate objectives.
• Prepare and present regular financial and operational updates to the executive leadership team.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience leading technicians, installers, or other skilled-trades teams in a home services or field services setting.
• Entrepreneurial background with experience managing a business or division with full profit-and-loss ownership.
• A demonstrated history of building strong teams from scratch, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and accountability.
• Contemporary leadership and people-management skills with a proven record of success.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities.
• Comfort using business software, CRM platforms, and Google Workspace.
• Experience using modern tools, including AI, to streamline and improve daily operations.
• Ability to follow OSHA Electrical Standard requirements.
• Ability to follow OSHA Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standards.
• Background in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a closely related residential home-improvement field.
• HVACR Master Contractor License is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the service area.

Compensation and Benefits

The role is a full-time, permanent position based in Portland, Oregon, with in-person work required.

Pay ranges from $140,000 to $165,000 per year.
