Role overview

As an Instrumentation Engineer based in Doha, Qatar, you will report to the Instrumentation Manager and contribute to the Engineering Fixed Facilities team. The position is project-based and centered on instrumentation engineering work across the full project lifecycle, from bid support and design through construction and start-up.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out engineering assignments delegated by the Instrumentation Discipline Lead, including design, review, layout development, installation drawings, material definition, validation, testing, and engineering of measurement, actuation, installation, and safety devices.
• Work closely with other project specialists and designers to keep engineering activities aligned and coordinated.
• Manage technical work carried out in-house as well as work performed by external parties.
• Support proposal and bidding activities by preparing tagged instrumentation items, bulk materials, quantity estimates, and by assisting with man-hour and cost forecasting.
• Review client specifications and technical documents, then translate them into engineering deliverables and design requirements.
• Coordinate subcontracted engineering work and check the related deliverables for consistency and quality.
• Establish engineering design bases, standards, and guidelines for instrumentation scope.
• Prepare requisition technical documentation, evaluate vendor submissions according to internal processes, and provide technical support to the project team.
• Develop optimized instrumentation solutions that balance cost, complexity, contractual obligations, and safety requirements.
• Produce technical specifications, datasheets, installation specifications, drawings, BOQs, and MTOs for instrumentation scope.
• Participate in P&ID mechanization, 3D modeling activities, vendor sizing reviews, FAT activities, and vendor workshops.
• Support construction and commissioning/start-up teams with technical and engineering assistance.
• Ensure all assigned activities comply with QA/QC and HSE expectations.

Requirements

• A master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering is preferred; alternatively, a degree in Instrumentation Engineering is acceptable.
• At least 5 years of EPC experience with strong, expert-level instrumentation capability.
• Good command of English.
• Solid knowledge of EPC project environments and company processes/procedures.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methods, bidding practices, design criteria, standard codes, and regulations.
• Ability to provide practical technical support across engineering and project phases.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Advanced Excel skills are expected.

This is a permanent, project-based position located in Doha, Qatar. The working schedule is 45 hours per week, structured as 9 hours per day over 5 days.
