IT Support Manager

Role Overview

trawa is hiring a hands-on and security-focused IT Support Manager to become the company’s first dedicated IT hire in Berlin. This is a part-time, office-first position where you will help create a secure, dependable, and well-managed workplace technology environment for every employee from their first day onward.

You will be part of the Platform team and work closely with three software engineers, taking ownership of day-to-day IT operations with a real chance to shape how the function is built. The role combines employee support, device management, access administration, and security/compliance operations, with an emphasis on enabling the business to scale safely.

trawa is a Berlin-based company with around 100 employees, including about 30 people across Product and Tech. The business has raised more than €35M so far, including a €24M Series A in May 2025, with backing from Balderton, Headline, Speedinvest, AENU, Magnetic, and Tiny VC. The founders remain fully involved and are focused on building what they describe as the utility of the future.

Why This Timing Matters

Energy prices in Europe are roughly twice as high as in the US and China, while electricity demand is expected to double by 2050. Because volatility and complexity are structural rather than temporary, trawa is building an integrated B2B energy platform that brings procurement, energy management, and flexibility steering into one product. The platform aims to help customers reduce recurring electricity costs by up to 30% while supporting a shift to renewable energy. The company is growing rapidly in Europe, currently active in Germany and Austria and preparing to enter a third market in 2027.

90-Day Objectives

During the first 6 weeks, you are expected to become well integrated with the team and build strong working relationships across Engineering, Operations, and People. You should also be operating the main IT stack confidently, including the MDM platform, Vanta, and endpoint security tools. In addition, you will complete an initial review of trawa’s ISO 27001 control position and align on a priority improvement plan with Engineering leadership.

By month 3, access management should be running on least-privilege principles and meeting ISO 27001 requirements. Employee onboarding and offboarding should function end-to-end through documented and repeatable processes, with no unresolved access or device issues. Improvements identified in the initial review should already be underway with clear owners and timelines tracked in Vanta.

Key Responsibilities

Your work will cover device operations, support, access control, endpoint security, and compliance support.

Hardware and Workplace Configuration

• Manage employee equipment across its full lifecycle, including purchasing, setup, tracking, and offboarding for laptops, monitors, and other peripherals.
• Provide everyday IT help for software installation, connectivity problems, and account-related issues.
• Maintain the company’s hardware asset inventory.
• Set up and support meeting room audio-visual and conferencing systems.

Security and Compliance

• Help sustain trawa’s ISO 27001 certification by ensuring operations are compliant and properly documented.
• Administer compliance controls in Vanta.
• Support adherence to company security policies such as Acceptable Use, Password Policy, and Incident Response, in coordination with Engineering leadership.
• Assist external auditors during certification cycles by preparing evidence and participating in control walkthroughs.
• Run phishing simulations and help organize company-wide security awareness training.
• Spot security issues and escalate them to the right owner.

Identity and Access Management

• Set up and remove access to SaaS applications during onboarding and offboarding.
• Own SSO and IdP configuration while enforcing least-privilege access principles.
• Carry out access reviews when needed.

Endpoint Security and MDM

• Own the MDM platform and keep its configuration aligned with compliance expectations.
• Monitor endpoint security alerts from EDR and antivirus tools.
• Ensure devices remain compliant at all times.

What You Need to Bring

The company is looking for someone with 2 to 5 years of experience in corporate IT, IT security, or IT operations. You should have practical experience with an MDM platform, a solid background working with an IdP or SSO tool, and exposure to audit-support work involving ISO 27001, SOC 2, or a similar framework. Familiarity with a compliance platform such as Vanta or Drata is also expected, along with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach that focuses on closing tickets and fixing underlying issues.
