Janitor / Driver

Role Overview

This position combines general janitorial work with driving duties. The successful candidate will keep the building neat, safe, and organized while carrying out heavy-duty cleaning tasks such as floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass cleaning, and waste removal.

Key Duties

• Remove and dispose of waste according to approved procedures and infection-control guidelines.
• Clean shared spaces on a daily basis, including washrooms, corridors, lobbies, storage areas, and other public-facing areas.
• Transport linen and supplies to designated storage locations.
• Dust surfaces and damp-mop floors using the approved methods and equipment.
• Shift furniture and equipment to allow thorough cleaning, then return everything to its proper place.
• Clean assigned areas with the provided materials and tools, ensuring all surfaces are sanitized.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and similar surfaces to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Take initiative to identify areas that need attention and complete cleaning tasks without waiting to be directed.
• Perform floor restoration work such as stripping, scrubbing, buffing, refinishing, and carpet shampooing.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s licence and proof of a clean driving record are required.
• At least 1 year of prior janitorial experience is needed.
• WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, are required.
• The ability to follow verbal and written instructions is necessary.
• You should be comfortable working on your own as well as contributing as part of a team.
• Physical stamina is needed to complete all job duties.

Position Requirements

• One year of valid driving experience with a clean record must be provided.
• The applicant must be able to complete a driving assessment in a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
• Passing a drug and alcohol screening is mandatory.
• A criminal record check is required.
• The schedule is 11 hours per day.
• The rotation is 20 days on followed by 10 days off.

Compensation

The pay rate for this role is $19.25 per hour. Final pay may vary depending on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
