Role overview
Hull College is looking for a Kitchen Porter to support activities within the curriculum area. The role focuses on keeping workspaces clean, handling incoming deliveries, moving produce to the correct locations, and helping maintain the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchens and related teaching areas.

Working pattern and pay
This is a term-time-only position of 37 hours per week across 40 weeks each year. The salary is £24,538 FTE per year, with an actual annual pay of £22,776.58.
Key duties
- Receive deliveries and move them into the correct storage locations.
- Make sure theory classrooms are clean and prepared before teaching begins.
- Look after student changing rooms so they remain clean and ready for use.
- Keep catering equipment and kitchen appliances clean, including ovens, cookers, grills, fryers, extraction grills, and canopies.
- Carry out deep-cleaning tasks in kitchens and on equipment during non-teaching weeks.
- Move kitchen and classroom equipment as required.
- Transport food trolleys and produce to the kitchens and to HU1.
- Carry out routine upkeep on cleaning and catering equipment.
- Support administrative tasks connected to enrolment, such as creating course labels, handling course bookings, organising interviews, and completing other enrolment-related steps.
What the college is looking for
- At least a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, or a willingness to work toward it.
- A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Practical knowledge of cleaning duties in a catering setting.
- Previous experience working in catering.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
