About the Role

Angel City FC is developing an elite organization that uses sport as a force for equity. The club stands among the most valuable women’s sports teams globally and is shaping a new model where sport, entertainment, and purpose work together. Its goal is to create memorable experiences that support a sustainable, fast-growing business while staying innovative, passionate, and willing to do things differently.

The Performance Coach will partner with the Director of Performance to help build a high-performance environment centered on the individual player and focused on both personal and team growth. The role delivers expert on-field physical preparation, conditioning, speed work, recovery, and player development programs that strengthen the performance setting for Angel City FC players and staff. Working with the Director of Performance and the wider High Performance group, this person will help carry out the club’s physical performance plan through training delivery, monitoring, and development initiatives aimed at improving performance, supporting adaptation, and lowering injury risk. As part of a multidisciplinary Performance and Medical team, the coach will communicate closely with staff to support session delivery, athlete management, and performance planning. The position also contributes practical knowledge on physical preparation, training load management, and readiness to help improve outcomes and support long-term athletic development.

All work in this position is expected to align with the performance philosophy and periodization framework set by the Director of Performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Performance to lead high-standard on-field physical preparation and training sessions, making sure exercises are delivered with the right technical detail, intent, and coaching quality to support player growth and performance.
  • Help implement the on-field periodization plan by using training load, monitoring, and performance information to guide sessions, assess athlete responses, and adjust training according to readiness and match or training demands.
  • Improve player movement quality, speed, acceleration, deceleration, and change-of-direction ability through targeted field-based work tailored to individual needs and objectives.
  • Partner with the High Performance team on player profiling processes, helping gather, interpret, and apply performance data to support athlete development.
  • Assist in creating, delivering, and tracking individual physical development plans, including off-season work, so they align with performance goals and long-term development pathways.
  • Use performance monitoring and reporting tools to support training delivery, player management, and communication across the High Performance group.
  • Support the Strength and Conditioning Coach and Return-to-Play Performance Coach with gym-based strength and conditioning work to keep field and gym interventions consistent.
  • Contribute to match-day performance operations such as pre-match preparation, warm-up delivery, player readiness routines, and post-match recovery.
  • Assist with performance planning for travel and competition periods, including travel preparation, recovery strategies, athlete monitoring, and schedule changes that help maintain readiness and performance across the season.
  • Support community, commercial, and club activities when needed.
  • Show an ongoing commitment to professional growth and the continued improvement of applied performance practice.
  • Uphold team standards, club policies, and league rules that apply to players and staff.

  • Direct experience delivering advanced on-field physical preparation, including conditioning, speed development, warm-ups, and individual player development.
  • Proven ability to coach movement quality, acceleration, deceleration, speed, and change-of-direction skills inside a performance program.
  • Experience supporting match-day operations, including pre-match setup, warm-up execution, player readiness work, and post-match recovery and conditioning.
  • Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS), or the ability to obtain the credential within 6 months.
  • Experience with performance systems such as GPS tools like Catapult, athlete management systems, and force or strength diagnostics such as VALD, along with an understanding of data governance, quality, validity, and reliability.
