The Opportunity

Tait Communications is looking for a Services Product Owner to join its Christchurch-based Services team. This position focuses on shaping and improving the company’s support services portfolio, which includes monitoring, managed services, and help desk capabilities delivered to customers and partners around the world.

The role is responsible for steering service strategy, maintaining the roadmap, and coordinating delivery so the offerings create strong customer experiences, support revenue growth, and stand out in the market.

Working alongside the Services Portfolio Manager and teams across the business, you will help guide both planning and execution for these services.

Key Duties

  • Drive the strategy and roadmap for support service products so they align with business goals.
  • Use market research and customer input to spot improvements to current services and opportunities for new ones.
  • Manage the support services backlog and translate needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with pre-sales, engineering, and deployment teams to deliver service improvements successfully.
  • Review service performance and apply data insights to improve value and customer results.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between internal teams, stakeholders, customers, and partners for support offerings.
  • Assist sales and marketing with go-to-market execution.
  • Help define pricing approaches and contribute to revenue forecasting and profitability.
  • Keep the service experience customer-led by using feedback to guide continuous improvement.
  • Share roadmap updates, progress, and outcomes with regional stakeholders and partners.

About You

You are commercially aware, customer-oriented, and comfortable owning service or product priorities. Experience in technology or telecommunications would be especially relevant. You work well with diverse stakeholders, enjoy solving complex challenges, and are able to turn insights into practical outcomes.

Additional Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a product or service management position.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing service or support offerings.
  • Solid understanding of service environments, especially support services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, supported by a data-led approach.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Financial understanding, including pricing strategy and revenue management.
  • Hands-on experience with product management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to critical communications systems or similar industries.
  • Experience in global or cross-functional teams.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or an equivalent certification.
