Position overview

A well-established construction business in the Dunston area is looking to bring in an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a varied portfolio of complex projects. This role offers the chance to take full commercial ownership from early-stage planning through to final handover, with direct reporting to the Commercial Director.

The position suits someone who enjoys variety, commercial accountability, and working across multiple schemes where they can help improve project outcomes and add value throughout the delivery process.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the commercial side of several projects at once while working closely with both internal colleagues and external clients. You will guide schemes from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring strong financial control and performance at every stage.

You will also play a leading commercial role within the team and contribute to a cooperative, high-performing working environment. Projects cover a broad mix of sectors, including commercial, retail, heritage, and education.

Role requirements

The employer is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with solid construction industry experience and a proven track record in commercial management.

• You should have established experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Applicants must meet one of the following background profiles: a degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or no degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Strong planning and organisation skills are essential, along with a structured and methodical working style.
• You should be comfortable overseeing several projects at the same time.
• Previous experience in a commercial lead position is required.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are necessary, as regional travel will be part of the job.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this role is £50,000 to £65,000 per year, depending on experience.

Additional information
