Role Purpose

The Section Incharge role is centered on delivering high-voltage transmission line projects of 765/400 kV capacity successfully at site. The position is accountable for achieving productivity, timeline, budget, quality, and safety targets while coordinating site teams, contractors, vendors, and authorities. It requires disciplined planning, strong execution control, cost awareness, regulatory compliance, and a zero-harm approach to site operations.

Responsibilities

Lead site execution for transmission line projects and guide the engineering team to deliver work on time and in line with approved Field Quality Plans, IS Codes, and CBIP manuals.

Plan, schedule, and review project progress regularly to identify critical activities, remove delays, and keep commissioning milestones on track.

Prepare, track, and circulate MIS updates with accurate progress monitoring to support management reporting.

Spot execution bottlenecks early and apply practical solutions so that project flow remains uninterrupted.

Review vendor invoices, maintain accurate records, and process bills in a timely manner to avoid disruption in project execution.

Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and site safety procedures by implementing safety initiatives and performing regular quality checks.

Reduce compliance exposure by making sure all site activities follow legal and regulatory norms and by maintaining a safe environment for all personnel.

Conduct recurring safety and quality training at site to strengthen the capability of the project team.

Build effective working relationships with vendors and contractors through regular coordination meetings, issue resolution, and cost control.

Liaise with local authorities to secure permissions and manage shutdowns, crossings, and other critical activities within regulatory requirements.

Coordinate smoothly with internal stakeholders across departments to support integrated project delivery.

Track project expenditure, cash flow, and resource allocation carefully to stay within budgetary goals.

Keep project costs under control by reviewing spending against approved budgets and limiting avoidable extras.

Identify site and execution risks early, carry out inspections, and use preventive measures to reduce safety and delivery risks.

Use project management tools and digital systems to improve monitoring, visibility, and resource tracking.

Explore and apply better technologies and methods to improve efficiency and project outcomes.

Support the engineering team by setting goals, reviewing performance, and enabling them to meet productivity targets.

Requirements

  • B.E. or B.Tech. degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in transmission line execution, especially in high-voltage projects.

  • Experience in coordinating with government departments to secure statutory and regulatory approvals.
  • Working knowledge of IS5613, the CBIP Manual, and applicable industry compliance standards.
