What you'll do

  • Assess, define, and document structural requirements for products and proposal work within the Mooring System Department.
  • Create structural solutions that are safe, efficient, and economical to manufacture and build.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and organize structural analysis reports and technical specifications.
  • Review finite element analyses for critical structural parts and verify alignment with the intended design.
  • Guide engineers and technicians on assigned projects and provide technical direction when needed.
  • Stay current with classification society rules and certification authority expectations, including ABS, DNV, LRS, and BV, as they apply to mooring systems and structural engineering.

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with the Group Management System and the latest classification society regulations.
  • Suggest improvements and help draft new procedures where needed.
  • Keep the department updated on the tools and methodologies used for structural work.
  • Act as the structural point of reference for the department.
  • Support other departments and the Sales team with technical input.
  • Assist designers with troubleshooting, and prepare formal technical responses for issues raised by clients, contractors, or classification societies.
  • Follow departmental working instructions and support the creation of new ones when required.
  • Help Technical Project Managers define structural work scope for projects.
  • Ensure the project team understands client specifications, contract terms, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Track structural design changes and support variation order proposals when the effort involved is significant.
  • Review supplier quotations and identify technical gaps or non-compliance with project specifications.
  • Develop and review structural component designs for company products.
  • Write technical specifications related to structural requirements.
  • Use appropriate engineering software for analysis, calculations, and design support, and keep up with software updates.
  • Carry out calculations to confirm the integrity of structural designs.
  • Define the materials and welding standards required for safe fabrication and construction.
  • Apply the correct dimensions, properties, loads, motions, and structural characteristics in engineering work.
  • Follow all relevant working procedures and engineering instructions.

  • Attend training, seminars, and other development programs as needed.

Requirements

  • A recognized engineering degree with a specialization in structural engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the offshore industry.
  • Experience with floating products or systems will be an added advantage.
  • Strong command of English.
