Role overview
Join Qatar Duty Free in Doha as a Till Assistant and become part of a large, award-winning retail environment at Hamad International Airport. The role focuses on handling checkout operations smoothly, supporting sales at the cash desk, and delivering a high standard of service to shoppers and travelers.
Qatar Duty Free offers a retail destination with more than 90 boutiques and value-focused stores, along with over 30 restaurants and cafés across more than 40,000 square meters in one of the world’s leading airports.
Key responsibilities
- Make sure the cash float matches records and that every entry into the POS system is captured correctly.
- Complete customer payments quickly and accurately using the store POS, while always providing receipts to the customer.
- Handle cash, traveler’s cheques, credit cards, and other payment types carefully and securely.
- Keep cash and all related paperwork protected at all times.
- Be accountable for any cash differences identified at the end of the shift.
- Support other duties in the department as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Deliver excellent service to both Qatar Duty Free / Qatar Airways Group customers and airport passengers so they leave with a positive impression.
- Address customer queries, complaints, or issues promptly and appropriately.
- Process transactions efficiently so that checkout and packing take as little time as possible.
- Maintain strict confidentiality for company records, data, documents, and statistics.
- Escalate any security concern or breach to the Supervisor or Duty Manager immediately.
- Help maintain strong security over stock and cash throughout the shift.
- Stay aware of theft-prone zones and identified hotspot areas.
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should have basic literacy and numeracy skills, along with English communication ability. This is an entry-level role, so prior job-related experience is not required.
Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
