Role overview

The Nelson plant is looking for an experienced Trades Assistant to support maintenance and engineering activities across the site.

What you will do

• Partner with shift engineers to carry out maintenance tasks and repair work.
• Help keep engineering systems and support services running at the required level of performance.
• Promptly flag equipment damage, defects, or faults.
• Carry out repairs on machinery and other faulty plant equipment.
• Work a day shift roster, with every second weekend off; weekday roster flexibility can be discussed.

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone with a practical mechanical background and hands-on experience in maintenance and fault diagnosis. The right person will bring a strong safety mindset, solid workshop capability, and the confidence to solve problems creatively.

Skills and experience

• Strong commitment to health and safety
• Practical workshop ability, including welding
• Effective troubleshooting and inventive thinking
• Intermediate computer literacy
• Clear verbal and written communication
• Previous experience in a manufacturing setting
• Forklift licence preferred
• Engineering or fitting trade qualification preferred
