USIC is hiring a full-time Utility Locator in Hinesville, GA for a field-based role focused on safely identifying underground utility lines. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys working outdoors, prefers independent work, and wants to build a long-term career in underground utility damage prevention and infrastructure services.
The company emphasizes safety, quality, and efficient service delivery across telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer networks. New hires do not need prior locating experience, as training is provided, though experienced utility locators are also welcome.
This position uses company-provided vehicles, tools, and technology to complete locate requests accurately and on time. The work is performed in the field and is centered on public safety, problem-solving, and reliable documentation.
Compensation
This role pays $20.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Identify underground utility systems safely and accurately, including telecom, electric power, cable television, gas, water, and sewer lines.
- Survey assigned areas to find buried utilities, mark their locations, complete the required paperwork, and take photos of each locate.
- Use ticket and claims management tools to support clear and complete mark-out service for excavators and property owners.
- Work independently in the field while operating a company-issued vehicle.
- Follow safe work practices and help support public safety and damage prevention efforts.
Work schedule
These are daytime, full-time positions. Because many locates must be completed within a 48-hour turnaround, the role may require work the day after holidays and some weekends. Overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, may be required based on business needs.

Requirements
- Comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Technology skills and the ability to use work systems effectively.
- Availability for overtime, weekends, and on-call scheduling as needed.
- Ability to pass a drug screening due to the safety-sensitive nature of the job.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean, safe driving record.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical tasks such as walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish colors used for wire identification and utility marking.
- Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and prints.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with coworkers, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
