About the Role
The organization is seeking a dependable Warehouse Assistant to support day-to-day warehouse and distribution functions. The role centers on accurate stock handling, efficient order processing, organized storage, and timely dispatch so customers receive the right products on schedule.
Reporting Line and Location
This position is based in Harare, Zimbabwe, within the Warehouse and Distribution department, and reports to the Head of Operations.
Key Duties
- Process picking slips and customer orders within agreed timeframes.
- Pick, pack, and stage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Move completed stock to the dispatch area without delay.
- Confirm product codes, quantities, and order details before shipment.
- Keep the warehouse tidy, structured, and safe at all times.
- Make sure bins, shelves, and stock positions are clearly and correctly labelled.
- Handle goods carefully to reduce damage and waste.
- Spot damaged inventory, report it, and help with stock corrections.
- Support quarterly cycle counts and the annual stock take.
- Inspect inbound deliveries and match quantities with delivery documents.
- Label pallets and stock correctly and store items in the proper locations.
- Help improve inventory accuracy by checking stock locations.
- Assist with packing and dispatch tasks whenever needed.
- Carry out general warehouse and administrative duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- A Matric/O-Level Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 to 2 years of experience in warehousing, stores, logistics, or distribution.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with stock control procedures.
- Strong accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Good planning, organisation, and time management ability.
- Comfortable working independently as well as within a team.
- Good spoken and written English communication skills.
- Able to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Physically capable of manual handling and related warehouse work.
- Prepared to work overtime when operational needs require it.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with inventory management or warehouse software.
- Exposure to stock counts and inventory control activities.
- Previous work in publishing, education, FMCG, or distribution environments.
- Knowledge of warehouse health and safety practices.
