What You’ll Be Working On

The Calm Health Data Team is centered on solving business problems with data. The team starts by defining the question or outcome it needs to address, then builds the analysis and data products needed to answer it effectively. The work can range from simple to highly complex, but in every case it is grounded in data-driven decision making.

Role Overview

As an Analytics Engineer, you will create scalable data models that support internal analysis, experimentation, and reporting across the company. You will work closely with product, engineering, operations, and data science partners to understand source data and turn it into high-performance analytical models and visualizations that help the business answer questions and communicate insights clearly.

Key Work Areas

• Improve and extend the dbt environment, converting raw inputs into business-ready datasets that make it easier to analyze company and platform performance.
• Partner with both technical and non-technical teams to connect data insights with real business action.
• Help decision makers understand the current state of the business through internal data products.
• Contribute to the development, testing, documentation, and broader adoption of core data models.
• Use tools such as Databricks, BigQuery, Airflow, Mode, and Tableau to help internal and external stakeholders create practical insights.
• Build strong working relationships across Calm to support cross-functional success.

Who We’re Looking For

This role calls for someone with solid experience in data modeling and in working with large-scale datasets on modern cloud platforms. Strong SQL skills are essential, and dbt experience is especially valuable. You should be comfortable working with tools in a contemporary data stack, including dbt, Databricks, BigQuery, and Airflow. Experience with Tableau or another BI/visualization tool is important, and Python knowledge is also needed. The right candidate can translate business needs into technical solutions and explain technical work in business terms. Strong stakeholder management, presentation ability, documentation discipline, and testing habits are important, along with a pragmatic mindset that balances speed and rigor.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in data science, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
• Advanced SQL proficiency.

Preferred Background

• Experience in a B2B SaaS environment, ideally within healthcare.
• Exposure to working with non-technical stakeholders in Internal Product, Finance, or Partner Sales.
• Background in healthcare analytics.
• Experience modeling data for LLM use cases such as natural language SQL and tool calls.

Compensation and Benefits

Calm uses a geographic pay model, so compensation is tied to the employee’s location. For this position, the expected base salary range is $147,000 to $225,000. Eligibility for the top end of the range depends on factors such as geographic location, skills, experience, and other qualifications. This role is also eligible for equity, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), and flexible time off.
