Role overview
Mountain Warehouse is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Nelson, New Zealand to support the Store Manager in running a high-performing retail location. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leading people, improving store results, and delivering memorable customer experiences.
In this role, you will help shape the day-to-day success of the store by guiding the team, maintaining excellent standards across operations, and representing the brand in a positive and professional way.
Leadership and team growth
- Work alongside the Store Manager to build and support an engaged, productive, and motivated team.
- Create a cooperative, encouraging workplace where people work well together toward shared goals.
- Support learning and development so team members can strengthen their skills and progress.
- Communicate openly and clearly to help keep the team aligned and trusting of one another.
- Ensure the team understands products well enough to deliver strong service to customers.
Store operations
- Help ensure the store runs smoothly each day while following company policies and procedures.
- Maintain strong standards for merchandising and store presentation to improve the customer experience.
- Prioritise health and safety by carrying out regular checks and helping maintain a safe environment for staff and shoppers.
- Support hiring efforts and help retain capable people who contribute positively to the team.
Sales, stock, and performance
- Assist in achieving sales goals and improving store profitability through effective actions.
- Track key performance measures to help monitor progress and store performance.
- Oversee stock availability and help manage replenishment and delivery processes accurately.
- Put practical loss-prevention steps in place to protect sales and store margins.
Customer experience
- Set the tone for excellent customer service through your own example.
- Respond to customer concerns quickly and work toward a positive outcome.
- Represent Mountain Warehouse with energy, professionalism, and a helpful attitude.
- Build positive relationships within the local community and help create a friendly shopping environment.
