Role summary
The Auditor will support internal audit activities by helping carry out audit assignments in line with the approved audit plan. The role is focused on identifying risks, evaluating controls, and supporting functional and assurance activities to help the bank operate safely and in compliance with internal standards.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of audit plans and help assess how well business areas follow the bank’s policies and procedures.
- Contribute to planning professional audit work and internal control risk reviews to identify weaknesses and adherence gaps.
- Interview teams within the audited units to understand processes, controls, policies, and day-to-day practices.
- Carry out audits across different bank functions and activities to assess operational risk, internal control reliability, and compliance with bank requirements.
- Investigate suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity, whether identified proactively or after an incident, and help ensure timely corrective action.
- Discuss audit findings with business units and coordinate with Risk and Legal teams when observations require follow-up or resolution.
- Track implementation of audit recommendations with relevant departments to improve compliance and reduce exposure.
- Provide clear, independent guidance to audited teams and audit leadership on policy compliance and appropriate next steps.
- Help raise awareness of new laws, trends, and audit-related developments that may affect the bank’s performance or risk profile.
- Look for opportunities to improve systems, processes, practices, productivity, and cost efficiency using leading industry practices.
- Follow all internal policies, procedures, and operating instructions so work is completed in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Prepare audit reports and analysis, and assist in producing accurate departmental statements and reports on time.
- Comply with quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements relevant to the role.
- Complete other related assignments as directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a closely related field.
- A professional audit or accounting certification is strongly preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in auditing.
- Sound understanding of the banking sector and financial products in Qatar and the wider region.
- Knowledge of audit disciplines such as functional audit, assurance, corporate audit, or credit review.
- Familiarity with internal audit methods, standards, and professional codes of conduct.
- Working knowledge of banking operations, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
