Beauty Advisor

Overview

Ulta Beauty is looking for a Beauty Advisor who can create an energetic, welcoming shopping experience for guests who are passionate about beauty. The role is centered on helping each guest discover the right products and services, while also contributing to sales goals, store standards, and a positive team environment.

Role Summary

As a Beauty Advisor, you will support store performance by assisting guests, handling cashier duties, maintaining product availability, and keeping the store clean and organized. Success in this role depends on strong guest service, a genuine interest in the beauty industry, and the ability to learn and share product knowledge effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Help drive retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omnichannel sales, and shrink goals set for the store.
• Greet guests warmly, learn their needs, and tailor the shopping experience to match.
• Answer product and service questions, highlight current promotions, and suggest related items or services.
• Process customer service requests, sales transactions, refunds, exchanges, and online order support.
• Provide makeup applications, skincare evaluations, and product demonstrations to improve the guest experience and support sales.
• Assist with scheduling and delivering services and in-store events.
• Stay current on product launches, existing lines, ingredients, and benefits during working hours.
• Arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance.
• Promote a respectful, inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Share information about the loyalty program, credit offerings, and the brand app when appropriate.
• Work with managers and store associates to support business growth.
• Participate in ongoing brand and category training to strengthen skills and improve sales performance.
• Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code requirements.
• Keep assigned areas stocked, signed, front-faced, and equipped with testers.
• Maintain a clean and organized salesfloor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break area.
• Assist with resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventories, and shipment processing/unloading using the company’s systems and methods.
• Protect company property by following loss-prevention practices and delivering strong guest service.
• Handle other store duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma is preferred.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience, is preferred.
• Passion for guest service and comfort with selling are important for success.
• Basic technology skills are needed, including familiarity with point-of-sale systems and Apple devices.
• Ability to build strong customer relationships and resolve issues effectively.
• Comfort working both independently and as part of a team.
• Must be available for a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

• Continuous movement throughout the store during the shift.
• Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting.
• Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of items up to 25 lbs.
• Continuous coordination and handling of objects while working.
