Business Analyst Logistics

Role Overview

This position sits at the center of logistics execution, helping turn complex transportation and distribution activity into clear, usable information for planning, shipping, receiving, and assembly teams. The role owns shipment visibility, exception handling for bookings, and freight cost analysis across air, ocean, and domestic transportation, while partnering with service providers to help secure capacity when demand increases. The goal is to support on-time delivery and a strong customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor international inbound shipments for all distribution centers and provide prompt, accurate visibility to planning and buying teams so inventory remains available.
• Handle inbound booking issues, improve container utilization, and decide when freight should move as LCL, FCL, or air.
• Coordinate daily inbound delivery plans and work with air and ocean carriers to recover freight as soon as it is ready.
• Estimate peak volume requirements for logistics partners so they can reserve space and capacity before demand surges.
• Review inbound freight spend and maintain monthly cost-per-unit reporting by category, including year-to-date and forecast views, to support finance decision-making.
• Prepare monthly freight accruals and ad hoc cost analyses across all transportation modes, including last-mile delivery to customers.
• Create routing guides and keep Global Shipping Instructions updated for all regions.
• Serve as the day-to-day contact for domestic small parcel activity, managing pickups, resolving exceptions, and supporting equipment installations.
• Check freight invoices before approval by confirming rates, accessorial charges, and general ledger coding.
• Share KPI updates and operational status on landed cost, on-time delivery, transit time, and booking progress with stakeholders in purchasing, planning, receiving, and assembly.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying waste, simplifying handoffs, and sharing recommendations that improve service while controlling cost.
• Take on other related duties and assignments as needed.

Skills and Knowledge

The role calls for strong English communication skills, with Spanish being an advantage. It also requires excellent organization, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage several lanes and deadlines at once. Candidates should be comfortable using Excel and Word, including lookups, pivot tables, and basic modeling, and should have working knowledge of ERP, WMS, and TMS systems. A practical understanding of transportation modes, Incoterms, and basic customs paperwork is important, along with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem solving.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business is considered a plus. The role typically requires 3 to 5 years of experience in receiving, distribution, transportation, or a similar logistics function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

This is a normal office-based role with extensive use of computers and phones. The position may require extended hours, the ability to stay accurate and efficient despite frequent interruptions, light physical effort such as occasional lifting or moving of lightweight materials, and frequent travel.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual base pay for this role is $75,000 to $85,000. Additional rewards may include health and wellness benefits, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, and paid time off, depending on the applicable plan.
