Role Overview
This position is for an Accommodation Facility (Camp) Supervisor supporting the Ar Rjum Project in Dhalm, Saudi Arabia. The role centers on managing day-to-day camp operations through close oversight of the contracted accommodation services provider. The supervisor ensures that housing, catering, housekeeping, cleaning, maintenance, recreation, and other essential services are delivered to the expected levels of quality, hygiene, safety, and reliability.
The role also serves as the company’s representative on site, with responsibility for routine inspections, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and coordination with internal teams and contractors. The position requires living in the project accommodation camp in Saudi Arabia.
Project Context
The Ar Rjum Project is a greenfield gold development that includes three open-pit mining operations, waste dumps, ore stockpiles, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure such as water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, and both temporary and permanent accommodation villages. The project is located in the Central Arabian Gold Region, about 200 km north-east of Taif toward Riyadh and roughly 26 km south of Al Mouwayh on the Jeddah–Riyadh highway.
Key Duties
- Manage the accommodation services contract and ensure the contractor follows scope, KPIs, service levels, and all contractual commitments.
- Carry out daily inspections and walkthroughs of living blocks, dining areas, kitchens, recreation spaces, and maintenance work.
- Examine contractor submissions covering maintenance, cleaning, catering, incidents, complaints, and preventive maintenance, and make sure corrective actions happen on time.
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, hygiene, room readiness, and overall appearance of the facility.
- Track performance patterns and escalate repeated problems where needed.
- Take part in regular contractor review meetings focused on operations, performance, and improvement actions.
- Check that accommodation, housekeeping, laundry, catering, waste management, and recreation services meet required quality, safety, and hygiene expectations.
- Oversee food operations so they comply with food safety requirements such as HACCP or an equivalent national standard.
- Ensure meals are produced and served daily to the required quality, nutrition, and service levels.
- Handle resident feedback, complaints, and satisfaction issues in a timely manner.
- Monitor facility maintenance and preventive maintenance work to ensure defects are resolved quickly.
- Coordinate repairs, shutdowns, hazard controls, and continuity planning with the contractor.
- Track warranty-related issues and confirm they are closed out properly.
- Ensure compliance with project safety, environmental, and health requirements across all camp activities.
- Participate in safety observations, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits.
- Serve as the main contact for accommodation matters for internal stakeholders such as Security, Logistics, ES&H, and other teams.
- Work with Security on site access, emergency procedures, and security requirements for the facility.
- Coordinate with Logistics to arrange transportation for residents when needed.
- Assist with crisis response and emergency planning for the accommodation facility.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly updates covering facility condition, contractor performance, risks, issues, and improvement actions.
- Check contractor data such as headcount, occupancy, meal counts, maintenance logs, and KPI reports.
- Support historical recordkeeping, continuous improvement efforts, and lessons learned.
- Help arrange overflow or external accommodation when required.
- Represent the project in regulatory or third-party inspections.
- Ensure all work inside the accommodation area aligns with project safety, environmental, and ethical expectations.
Background and Experience
A bachelor's degree or an international equivalent is required, along with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience. Candidates with 12 to 14 years of relevant work experience may also be considered in place of the degree requirement.
The role calls for at least 10 years of experience supervising accommodation, hospitality, hotel, camp, or village operations, preferably in large-scale or remote project environments. Experience managing outsourced accommodation or facility service contractors is important, along with practical knowledge of catering, housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and related essential services.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP or a similar national standard.
- Ability to conduct inspections, maintain service standards, and solve operational issues.
- Effective communication, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving capability.
- Solid organisational skills with the ability to handle several operational priorities at once.
- Experience preparing reports, reviewing contractor KPIs, and checking operational data for accuracy.
