Role overview

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a motivated, qualified Clinical Physiologist/Scientist to join a welcoming Clinical Neurophysiology team. The role is based at Charing Cross Hospital and supports a multi-site neurophysiology service with a strong focus on quality improvement, including work aligned to the Trust’s current UKAS accreditation goals.

The service delivers the full spectrum of neurophysiological testing for both adults and children, covering EEG, NCS, multi-modal evoked potentials, ambulatory monitoring, and video telemetry. The successful applicant will work closely with the Lead Clinical Physiologist and wider clinical teams to strengthen and develop service delivery.

Key duties

  • Carry out, assess, and interpret a broad range of neurophysiology tests to a consistently high standard, adapting approach where patients have different ages, needs, or levels of ability.
  • Help manage departmental resources efficiently, including placing orders for consumables, replenishing stock, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Support the training and oversight of neurophysiology colleagues, trainees, and visiting staff such as student nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals.
  • Take part in audit work and contribute to the ongoing review and updating of department procedures and protocols.
  • Support clinical trials, research activity, and service development initiatives where required.
  • Encourage patient and public involvement in shaping the service, including reviewing feedback such as Friends and Family information and helping implement improvements.
  • Assist with the review and resolution of complaints, concerns, and service issues, ensuring findings are communicated appropriately and action is taken in line with Trust policy.

Person specification

The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills, a collaborative working style, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across disciplines. Applicants should hold a B.Sc. in Clinical Neurophysiology with AHCS registration, or be a HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist.

Benefits and working culture

The Trust describes itself as a place to do exceptional work alongside exceptional people, with experienced clinicians who are advancing patient care. Staff are supported by a culture built around being expert, kind, collaborative, and aspirational.

Available benefits include career development opportunities, flexible working options, wellbeing support, and a staff recognition scheme. Optional benefits may include Cycle to Work, car lease schemes, season ticket loans, and access or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

The organisation is committed to equal opportunity, improving working lives, and will consider flexible, part-time, and job-share arrangements. Candidates are encouraged to discuss flexibility during interview.

Environmental commitment

The Trust recognises climate change and poor air quality as major health issues that worsen inequalities. It is working toward Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, and all employees are expected to contribute to this goal. A green network is in place to support staff in helping the Trust run services efficiently and sustainably.
